Public Relations in Small Business

Published by Forkids Team at 2:34 pm under Business Tips,Marketing

It is often thought that public relations are only used by large companies, but the reality is that, with minimal investment, small businesses can also make use of this effective promotional strategy.

A good PR campaign can give a small business such effectiveness in promoting it, as that would give the best paid advertising campaign.

For example, achieving our business is reviewed by a major media outlet, we can provide such coverage, and a small business probably could never afford to pay. It’s just a little creativity to make public relations a cost-effective way to promote our business.

Some ways to achieve this:

Participate in events

A public relations strategy might be to participate in events or local activities such as sporting events, holiday activities, social work, charities, parades, fairs, exhibitions.

One way to participate in these events or activities might be to donate the company’s products for fundraising activities, offering products as prizes for a contest or sweepstakes, sponsor a local sports team, etc.

Organize events

Besides participating in events sponsored by others, we could also choose to organize one, for example, could organize a contest related to the theme of our business where the awards would be some of our products or services.

But to organize an event, we must ensure that the public is aware of it, for example, by placing signs or posters announcing the proximity of the event, or communicating the event to local media and even inviting them.

Send a press release

Another way to make use of public relations strategy is to send a note or press release to local media, and convince them that the publication or disclosure.

A press release could be a business-related news (e.g., launching a new product, where together with the press release we send a product sample), the approach of a major event (for example, imminent opening of a new point of sale), an interesting story or business, etc.

The media to which we turn could be comprised of local newspapers, magazines, radio stations, news websites, blogs important, etc.

If the note is interesting and we get the media publishing or disseminating, we will write or talk about us without paying for it, may be lucky enough to make a good review from us, or until we requested an interview and , which is better, note or news that comes to be taken and reproduced by other means, thus achieving greater coverage.

Submit press release

An alternative to sending a press release to any media, with the hope that the publication or disclosure, is publishing the press release ourselves.

We can, for example, creating a corporate blog, and write it on the activities of the company, or we can send the note via electronic newsletters to our major customers.

Or even, we can issue a press release on social networks such as twitter or facebook, where as in the previous case, if the note or news is interesting, it can be republished by other media, and reach a large amount of public credibility and effectiveness so that the best paid advertising could achieve.
